Shipping & Returns

How and when orders ship, what it costs, and exactly how to send something back if it is wrong, damaged or simply not what you wanted.

1. Where we ship

We ship from our Dover, Delaware warehouse to all fifty United States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, and to all Canadian provinces and territories.

We do not ship to PO boxes for orders above $250 or for any order requiring a signature, because the carriers we use for those services do not deliver to them. Military APO/FPO/DPO addresses are served by USPS only, with longer transit times.

For other markets we work through regional distributors. Contact us and we will put you in touch with the right one.

Working days are Monday to Friday excluding US federal holidays. Orders placed after 14:00 ET are processed the next working day. Transit time begins when the parcel leaves us, not when the order is placed.

For Canadian orders, duties, taxes and brokerage are payable by the recipient on delivery unless a delivered-duty-paid arrangement has been agreed in writing on a trade account.

3. Processing, tracking and part shipments

Stocked items are picked and dispatched within one working day. You receive a dispatch email with a tracking number as soon as the carrier scans the parcel; tracking can take a few hours to become active.

If part of an order is out of stock we ship the available items immediately at no extra charge and follow with the remainder, unless you have asked us to hold the order complete. You are never charged twice for delivery because of a part shipment.

If a parcel shows no movement for 5 working days, contact us. We open a carrier trace and, if the parcel is not located within a further 5 working days, we re-ship or refund at your choice.

4. Damaged, incorrect or missing items

Inspect your order on arrival. If something is wrong:

  1. Photograph it before unpacking further — the outer carton, any visible damage and the contents as they sit.
  2. Tell us within 5 working days of delivery, by email or through the contact form, quoting the order number.
  3. Keep the packaging until the claim is settled. Carriers sometimes inspect.

We ship a replacement within two working days of accepting the claim, at our cost, with a prepaid return label for anything that needs to come back. You are never asked to pay return shipping for our error or for transit damage, and we do not require you to return the damaged goods before the replacement is sent.

5. Changed your mind

You may return unused goods in their original packaging within 30 days of delivery for a full refund of the product price.

Conditions:

  • Goods must be unused, undamaged and in complete original packaging with all components.
  • Opened multipacks are accepted provided the individual lamps are unused and the outer carton is intact.
  • You pay return shipping unless the return is due to our error, in which case we provide a prepaid label.
  • Original delivery charges are refunded only where the whole order is returned and the return is due to our error or a statutory right of cancellation.
  • Custom-specified or special-order items, cut-to-length products and commissioned luminaires are not returnable unless faulty.
  • Trade orders over $2,500 may attract a restocking fee of up to 15%, stated on the order confirmation.

How to return: email us with your order number and what you are returning. We issue a return authorisation number within one working day. Write it clearly on the outside of the parcel — returns without one take considerably longer to process. Send to the address on the authorisation, not to our office.

6. Refunds

We inspect returns within 3 working days of receipt and issue the refund within 2 working days of inspection. Refunds go to the original payment method; we cannot refund to a different card or account.

How long the money takes to appear is up to your bank: typically 3–5 working days for cards, up to 10 for some international issuers. Trade accounts are credited against the account and applied to the next invoice unless you ask for a transfer.

Where a return arrives used, incomplete or damaged beyond what inspection requires, we will contact you before deciding: we may refund in part, or return the goods to you at your cost. We will not simply keep them.

7. Warranty replacements

A lamp that fails within its warranty term is handled under the warranty terms, not this policy. In short: tell us the registration reference, we ship a replacement within two working days at no cost, and we include a prepaid mailer so the failed lamp can be recycled properly.

You do not need to return the failed lamp before the replacement is sent, and there is no pro-rata deduction for the time it was in service.

8. Recycling returned lamps

Every parcel we send includes a prepaid recycling mailer. Use it for the lamps you are replacing, whatever brand they are.

  • CFLs and fluorescent tubes contain mercury and must never go in household waste. Wrap them so they cannot break in transit.
  • LEDs and halogens are not hazardous but contain recoverable metals and electronics.
  • Broken lamps should be double-bagged; tell us on the form inside the mailer so they are handled correctly.

Everything goes to R2-certified processors, and we publish annual recovery figures. For commercial sites we arrange bulk collection instead — see the warranty and recycling service.

9. Your statutory rights

This policy sits alongside your legal rights and does not replace them. Nothing here limits any right you have under the Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act, applicable state consumer protection law, or — if you are ordering from outside the United States — the mandatory consumer law of your own country.

Where a statutory right gives you longer than the periods set out above, the statutory period applies.
