1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store and send back on later requests. Related technologies do similar jobs: localStorage and sessionStorage hold data in the browser without sending it automatically, and pixels are tiny images used to record that something loaded.
Cookies are first-party when set by the site you are visiting and third-party when set by another domain. They are session cookies when deleted on closing the browser and persistent when they survive with an expiry date.
This site sets first-party cookies only. It sets no third-party cookies of any kind.
2. What this site actually uses
2.1 Strictly necessary
These are required for the site to function and cannot be switched off through a preference control. Under the ePrivacy Directive they do not require consent.

2.3 Analytics
We run first-party, aggregate analytics. No third-party analytics service is used, no identifier is shared with anyone, and IP addresses are truncated to the first three octets before storage so they cannot identify an individual.

2.4 What we do not use
- No advertising or retargeting cookies.
- No social media pixels or share-button trackers — our share buttons are plain links that open a window when clicked, and load nothing until you click.
- No session recording, heatmaps or mouse tracking.
- No device fingerprinting or cross-site identifiers.
- No data brokers or audience segment providers.
3. Consent and how to change it
Strictly necessary cookies are set on arrival because the site cannot work without them. Functional and analytics storage is set only after you consent.
Where a consent banner is shown, refusing is as easy as accepting: the reject control is equally prominent and requires no more clicks. Refusal is remembered for 12 months and the site remains fully usable.
To change your choice, clear the ubrite_cookie_pref cookie in your browser settings and reload the page; the banner will appear again.
We honour the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser or extension sends it, we treat it as an opt-out of analytics storage and of any sale or sharing of personal information, without you needing to do anything else.
4. Controlling cookies in your browser
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking all cookies will break form submission on most websites, including this one.

5. A note on browser storage
The items listed above as localStorage or sessionStorage are not cookies and are never transmitted to our servers. They live in your browser, on that device, in that browser profile. Clearing site data removes them, as does using a private window.
Because storage can be blocked or unavailable, every feature that uses it degrades gracefully: the calculator simply starts from its defaults, and the thank-you page shows a generic greeting.
6. Changes to this policy
We audit the site’s cookies and storage at each release and update this inventory when it changes. If we ever add a category not listed above, we will ask for consent before setting it and update this page at least 30 days in advance.
